Joomla 3.5 and utf8mb4

Joomla 3.5 and utf8mb4 was created by Ninjakitten

So, with Joomla 3.5 utf8mb4 is supposed to be supported, but I've been having trouble getting it to work: when I save a file, any characters of that type (like emoji) become unknown boxes. I've poked at the db and tried to change some MySQL settings, with no luck yet. I haven't been able to narrow down just where things are breaking down yet, and obviously I don't want to muck around in the actual Joomla or Flexicontent code if it can be avoided, so I have a couple questions:

* Are characters of that sort working for anyone else?
* If so, did you need to do anything in particular?
* Does Flexicontent tell MySQL what character set it wants to use, and if so, which does it say, and where?

I'm currently using Joomla 3.5.1 and Flexicontent 3.0.14-rc2a. Any insights would be appreciated!

yes not all FLEXIcontent tables were updated with v3.0.14-rc2a

i think we can do in v3.0.15 or v3.0.16

I have opened an issue so that we do not miss this
