Hello, I am having the exact same problem.
Joomla 3.6.4
FC 3.1.1
If I deny the action " create items" for one specific type, it won't show up in the the list of types when adding a new item (which is what I am aiming to) but when editing an existing item of this type, I can't save it because the type not defined (selector is set on "Select type"), and rightly the item type is not in the list...

Has it been fixed with other people?

Many thanks
Antoine

Hello

existing items while being editted should always show the type currently assigned to item,
regardless of use having permission to use type for new items

I have opened and issue to review this:
github.com/FLEXIcontent/flexicontent-cck/issues/663

v3.1.2 milestone

Hello

Fixed with commit:

Fixed not possible to save an existing editable item when 'Create items' in Item Type was denied for the usergroup of the current editor
