Hi!
I have created Recipe category and type. Users can post new items in this category.
Also I have category and type Articles. Only admins can post items in this category.
How to set default type for users ?
User even should not see any types. Users open Recipe category , then press Add button and that's all. No needs any type selections.

Hello

in types manager and edit every type

- enable parameter "Use ACL" for creating types
then in permissions TAB set the usergroups that are allowed to create the type

but the "apply type" will not be hidden, they will have to click it once (maybe if only 1 type is allowed then it will be hidden , but test)

it't not good solution.
No types at all.

When user open, for example, recipes page and press on New button

he should get to the page with adding form - without any type. He does not know what is types...

We can do it using item menu

but button inside content - is more good.

Hello

yes it can be empty,

after you enable the parameter,
you need to also allow specific types to specific usergroups,
- by default none type is allowed

also after you select allowed types, note that if you have selected a submit menu item then
- menu item will take effect too, thus type must be in both menu item and in ACL

finally in submit menu item you can select to ignore ACL
