In answer to the original message, Ryan from JCE Editor has allowed us to override the default media manager in FLEXIcontent with this beta version:

thanks for return

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

I worked out how to use the FLEXIcontent file manager to upload SVGs but you need to enable it in FLEXIcontent global configuration:

1. In File tab, under limits - Add svg as allowed extension

2. Add image/svg+xml  for Legal Mime Types

3. Update your JOOMLA .htaccess file:

## Disable inline JavaScript when directly opening SVG files or embedding them with the object-tag
<FilesMatch "\.svg$">
  <IfModule mod_headers.c>
    Header always set Content-Security-Policy "script-src 'none'"
  </IfModule>
</FilesMatch>

I was getting an issue where FLEXIContent would say svg file type not allowed.

This is what we want:

So - in order to resolve:

Allow Joomla to upload SVG

To add SVG support in Joomla's Media Global Configuration:
  • Navigate to SystemGlobal Configuration.
  • On the left-hand side, locate and click on Media under the "System" tab.

Then add svg in the following places
  • Allowed Extensions: Add
    Code:
    ,svg
    to the existing list.
  • Legal Image Extensions (File Types): Add
    Code:
    ,svg
    to the existing list.
  • Legal MIME Types: Add
    Code:
    ,image/svg+xml
    to the existing list.

FLEXIContent File Field:

Set the following:
