Content item submission form default category not working was created by krae

I have a site with Flexi 3.3.8 installed and I have a form for users to submit specific items. Within the menu item, I have the Default Main Category set, but on the front end the category is not set as the default.

I went back to Flexi 3.3.5 (because I knew this worked at some point) and it does work in that version.

Is this something that can be changed to work in the latest version?

this is a confirmed issue
it is fixed in upcoming release

to get fix now
use install via URL

(it is v3.3.8 with this fix)
