[solved] safe to delete image files?

Hi there,

I have three connected questions (rather than real problems):

1)
is it always safe to manually delete files via sftp from
/images/stories/flexicontent/
as long as the originals are in
/components/com_flexicontent/uploads
because they are re-created, or are there exeptions?

2)
Is the answer the same for pdf files?

3)
I ask because I don't seem to fully understand the wording of
"auto delete unused" > [automatic | yes] as in:
what is the difference between "automatic" and "yes" (which also refers to the "automatic" in the label/question). I do understand the two conditions in the tooltip, but not, when they are invoked.

If you could clear that up a little for me (and possibly even update the wording in the image-field's tooltip at some point), I'd be extremely grateful :)
Thanks a lot,
Benjamin :)

Awesome, micker, thank you.

So, to 3)
Should I best use Auto delete "Auto" or Auto delete "Yes"
to maximize chances of files to be deleted from /stories? (and from /uploads?)

Thanks again!
