Frontpage/Featured functionality

Am I correct that there's currently no way to have frontpage/featured capability, where I can flag any article for display on a featured articles page?

The way to have your articles on the frontpage is to create a category that you will name frontpage - or whatever name you want- and you will assign the articles you want to this category.

Or you work it the old way, create your articles in Flexicontent and when published you flag them the old way, this is how I do it
