On the following page:http://webworxapp.com/scca

You see how the Category Title (it's above the leading image)... I would like to put that below the leading image introtext... I looked in the /components/com_flexicontent/templates/blog folder, which is how I got the image to go above the title... but I dont see where I can move that category title under the leading article description/introtext and above the rest of the articles... Category Layout: Blog

hello at first duplicate your template ...
because after your update, your modification will be lost

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

yes, thanks - I realize that... but it doesn't answer my question... I notice you post a lot with basic and not too helpful info... no offense but you didn't address the question. I will wait for one of the 2 other guys.

I am asking which template does that... category_items.php doesnt do that... I edited that file to get the image above the title... But that file and none in the blog folder addresses moving the category label where I need it.

Hello,

:D
no offense but you get 10x more answers than you would from another component when asked for customizations

*****************************************************
in fact for some components you would not get answers
--for bugs-- for free,
yes you have to buy subscriptions in order to report bugs
*****************************************************

1. bug reporting and bug-fixing is free, no subscriptions required

2. For customizations you got quite a few of answers, and we have to make a living too, our time is value-able and must be appreciated, imagine 10 other people asking various TEMPLATE customization questions

3. You get a component for free that involved a great deal of work, countless hours of 2-3 people, i know that the component/plg/modules has many features you do not need, but it was developed for many different sites, (imagine cost to develop such components for a single site e.g. develop joomla for a single site)

4. normally we would get paid to set-up a site and perform customizations on it,
so when you use a component without being a developer then you must rely on what is available,

or pay someone to do it:
the templates of FLEXIcontent are customizable easily by developers, and can be greatly shaped by numerous parameters, but something need development work on templates, otherwise developers would be out of a job

our knowledge and studies and work AND TIME is valuable and must be appreciated

5. we have added too many customization parameters to the component for people like you (=end users) so much that some people complained of it

Best Regards

I wasn't talking to you about the offense thing... I was talking to the other guy... but I guess he is your friend and you feel the need to defend him. He often posts with general information... you guys are really fast but you get offended really easy. I have no problem paying for paid support... I understand that its for free - perhaps change the subscription model? I do know the costs of development... I worked for Microsoft, developed in C, C++, VB, Foxpro, Basic, GW Basic,... I hardcoded complete sites, Flash, Java, etc, etc. I assumed that you guys could easily point me in the right direction because or your expertise with your own component. It is much faster than me continually looking through all the code... also, I notice you guys put out a lot of revisions so who knows if I am working off old code. I haven't complained about anything other than that one guy - micker posting something that is general in nature. If that is offensive - maybe customer support isn't your thing. I have many times posted what quick support you give so not sure why you are angry and not sure what you mean by saying, "people like you." ALL I asked for is which file should I looked in... CLEARLY I have edited the code you have to suit my needs... it was a simple question and Micker didnt answer it... then you take offense? I am sure one of your goals is to expand your component and I am quite sure that you generate some form of revenue for yourselves from this site and your components... if not, you should try to. As a well known Joomla user (and writer), I could easily increase your userbase... and I do think your component shows a lot of promise... and the support is quick... but not too friendly... sometimes sarcastic and sometimes rude - perhaps it's a language/culture thing... perhaps I am being too sensitive. As a DEVELOPER and business owner myself - I understand how it can get annoying when people bang you for customizations... but to ask where a template file is for 1 thing I need to change is hardly being problematic.

mikeg1 wrote: and I do think your component shows a lot of promise... and the support is quick...

must document some less known features and make some video tutorials, also the most-important missed feature is "installable Applications" (together with configuration export)

mikeg1 wrote: but not too friendly... sometimes sarcastic and sometimes rude - perhaps it's a language/culture thing...

Sarcastic ?? rude ??

i only use sarcasm to myself and to the closest people that i love :D ,
i hate to use sarcasm to people i don't know, if i did i am sorry ,

about being rude i don't think that this is fair to say this

I myself customize code of other components or make bug fixes, and for this i read the source code, it is faster than everything else ... ;)

Also our FAQ and template Tutorials answer a lot of stuff ... although of course they do not answer everything

Look, it's nothing personal... you can clearly see that the guy gave unhelpful info... and it was NOT directed at you... to give you some insight... I am actually working on a project... coincidentally, one of the largest and most well read international development magazines wanted me to do a review on a joomla article manager and another item... I chose yours. I will send you the article link once it's published. My current thoughts on this is: Your component is very powerful - arguably one of the most powerful of all the joomla article manager. Support is very fast... but ranges from unhelpful to solid and specific code level responses to angry and at times sarcastic comments. The code seems to be evolving so expect to have to do a lot of updates. There are a ton of options and they have a slew of support documents but I found a challenging time trying to sort through what I needed. Some of the options on this component are extensive - others - not so much. If you are doing a project for yourself or a client and can be flexible on how something looks or is presented - this component will most likely do the job. If you are doing it for another person/company... and they are very picky on what they want and how it's is presented on the screen... you may run into some issues... unless you can or have the time to code/customize it yourself. I would prefer a paid support option but I dont think I saw one... anyways... I wrote a lot more and I am not done but that is my opinion at this time.

Hello

the other guy is not a CORE developer, so he does his best ...

-- about what is wrong about component or missed we know most of it, but not everything
our users were very valuable in giving feedback and ideas (many log as enhancement in our bug tracker)

-- all code was profiled and optimized for high speed in large sites (even added real selective content plugin triggering) and the backend items manager is 2x-3x faster than joomla article manager if you have e.g. 50,000 items, yes despite its complexity our backend items manager is very fast

TODO (in terms of speed):
1. universal Content Module (yes SQL query not optimized yet and is very slow on large sites)

2. installation on existing large sites (this is problematic, you can build a large site with FLEXIcontent but not install it on existing sites with more than 100,000 articles)

-- FLEXIcontent has many configuration parameters, the installable Applications feature planned for this summer will make it easier to set-up new sites (less time consuming)

-- also J3.x support comming soon will give a boost to the component

-- some features need to be made more user-friendly e.g. multiple featured categories will be best with automatic styling and checkbox selection in item form (see our FAQ on how to use)

and v2.0.3 final adds powerful CSS markups,
for customizing the content list of items belonging to featured categories , special access items, recently added items, 24h,1d,3d,1m,3m,1y,3y etc ...

To be honest... despite our earlier disagreement - I like what I see with your component. It is superior to K2 and other ones that I have looked at.

I have another item in another thread... and that guy isn't helpful...

here is the thread...
<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" www.flexicontent.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php...=6539&p=38432#p38432 ">viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6539&p=38432#p38432

and getting back to this thread... which file should look at as its not category_items.php to move that category label below the Leading article introtext? Thanks
