[DB has 2 collations] User Field list

Hi,

Using com_flexicontent_v2.1.3_r1824_J25_J32
on Joomla 2.5.16

When I create a new User Field and save it, it does not appear in the User Field List.
Only present User Field that is present in the list is one without name. If I bring it up for editing and save it, it saves with a new field #.

I can see the User fields (i.e. #15 and #16 in the Template manager.

Any ideas what has gone wrong?

Thanks,
Sune

Hello

if you create a new Field but you do not assign it to Content Type (e.g.) "Car"

and also the field manager is currently filtered to display field for Content "Car"

in this case then the field will not be listed,

just remove the current Content Type filtering

Hi,

Sorry, but that is not the issue.
It doesnt matter how I set the filters.
No fields visible, only something that looks like a crashed field without any data.
My test fields are visible in the DB, table #_flexicontent_fields and visible in the template manager.

I can PM login details if you would be kind to have a look.

With error reporting on maximum, I get lots of warnings on the Field page.

Every field column displays a warning, for example:
Code:
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.org/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_flexicontent/views/fields/tmpl/default.php on line 268 Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.org/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_flexicontent/views/fields/tmpl/default.php on line 289 Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.org/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_flexicontent/views/fields/tmpl/default.php on line 297

...where the field label should displaay.

Hello,

Now I have uninstalled FC, deleted remaining FC tables in the DB and reinstalled FC 2.1.3 R1824.

Unfortunately, I´m stuck in the post installation process, updatiing the Initial permissions as described here:
www.flexicontent.org/forum/index.php?f=2...b0a21&rb_v=viewtopic

So, before I can se if reinstalling FC solved the Field issue, I would appreciate instructions how to solve the permissions issue.

Thanks for your help,
Sune

Hello,

Thank you! :)

Unfortunately, there is still an issue with Fields. No created fields are visible in the Field Manager. Only lots of waenings is visible instead of data, as shown in the PDF i have PMed you before.
(The newly created field is stored in the DB amd visible in the teemplate manager. I cannot see it in the item it is connected to).

Thanks again,
Sune

Hello

it is working now

I forgot to ask you to also enable Joomla parameter "Debug System",

-- so that the any MySQL error that occurs will get get printed

The reason that fields backend manager was broken is:
that you have not ALL database TABLE have the same character collation collation
some had utf8_swedish_ci
some had utf8_general_ci

the collation defines :
a. which character can be used/stored
b. how strings are compared
c. etc, ...

so in our case you can not compare to DB columns that have different collation (=different way of comparing characters)

-- I have set ALL DB to use collation:
utf8_general_ci

if you need utf8_swedish_ci collation, e.g. because some Swedish characters are missing from utf8_general_ci, the update ALL DB to have utf8_swedish_ci

-- you can do this easily via admin-tools which you have already installed

THANK YOU! :)

That is not what first comes to one´s mind but it makes senca...
It is not possible to use UTF8_general_ci for Swedisn (and other nordic countries) as it doesn´t sort correctly.

So a general advice to others having the same problem is to always set collation after installing a new component.

Thanks again!
