Hi

I have just installed Flexicontent on new site however I see a blank screen when I try to carry out the following tasks:
Edit an existing item
Add a new item (after the "Select Type" window)
Edit an existing category
Add a new field

Any ideas?

I'm using Joomla! 3.2.1 and FLEXIcontent version 2.1.2 r1806 beta

Hello

1. first make sure screen is really blank no HTML/text at ALL by doing a "view page source" at the blank page

2. Most common reason for blank screen is a PHP fatal error
so please go to Joomla's Global configuration and set parameter "Error Reporting" to Maximum

- then revisit the page and the PHP fatal error should get printed

Thanks for the quick reply
1. the screen was totally blank and there was nothing in the source code

2. The error when trying to edit a category was
"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 25165824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 218745 bytes) in /home/sites/cockapooclub.co.uk/public_html/new2/libraries/joomla/application/web.php on line 723"

Trying to cause the fault in other areas still results in a blank screen, but no error report

Thanks for your help

try to update your memory allocation in php.ini

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.

Hello

that is a rather low limit of memory

Joomla's category permission checking is fast but it takes up memory,

how many categories do you have?

FLEXIcontent category form needs the same memory as Joomla +7 MBs

e.g. Joomla: 20MBs + 7MBs more due to FC
e.g. Joomla: 60MBs + 7MBs more due to FC

I have 26 Categories.

I have updated the memory_limit = 24M to memory_limit = 128M, in the php.ini file but this did not solve the issue.

Hello

did the new setting take effect?

i mean does the new setting show in the error message

Before:
"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 24M exhausted (it is in bytes i just write MB)

After:
"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 128M exhausted (it is in bytes i just write MB)

No, the error message is the same, so I've obviously amended the wrong php.ini file.

I've done some more investigation and according to the PHP Information page in Joomla, the Loaded Configuration file is /etc/php53.ini.d/php.ini

That's obviously the file I'm looking for, but I can't find the etc directory

Hello

try adding it to the file
.htaccess

inside your joomla folder
Code:
php_value memory_limit 96M

if it is not allowed then you will get an internal server error
if you get an error, then try setting a lower value:
64M
40M

adding the text to the .htaccess file did not solve the problem, however I have found the solution.

In the index.php file of both the Joomla root and the administrator folder I have added the line
Code:
ini_set('memory_limit','96M');

immediately after
Code:
<?php

Problem solved :D

Thanks again for your assistance
