where is the description in the file field? [explaned] was created by hede

I try to display downloads in an article this way:

Description 1 | Download Button
Description 2 | Download Button
Description 3 | Download Button

The Description ... shoulde be the one entered during upload. How do I have to setup the [ file ] field to make this happen? Thanks.

When you click to upload a NEW file is it not a description field there?

Thanks. But my problem is not to enter the desc but to display it on the front end. There is no option in the field [ file ] saying "display description: y/n".

mmm, i thought i have added it,

i am fixing bugs currently, but this can be considered a bug too, since we added the description for this reason too, will be in next commit ...

The FILE FIELD does not have description we have requested in the past.

Since you are going to change consider adding 2 check-boxs in the configuration:

Show file name: yes / no
Show description: yes / no

Right now the file forces to show the file name and I have clients that make this:

icon | osd723946239we6y9r9w76er.pdf | button

The FILE FIELD does not have description

This is incorrect, the description is right there :geek: in the file tab. For later editing just cklick on the uploaded file. Maybe you need to update to the latest FC version.

If you set the file field to "Use download button" then it is possible not show the filename, so enable 2 parameters:
"Use download button"
"Display filename"

But it is confusing , i will solve by rename like:
"Use download button":
-- Yes
-- No, display filename

- About description, it was added in v1.5.6 but it was not used for display.

I added display of description with a new parameter: as popup or as inline display (not in SVN yet it will be in next commit)

Thank you for the new [r1235]. However I still cant figure out how to display the description. Now the back end gives me "Display filename" options twice but no "Display description".
