Displaying items by sub category for a FAQ template

Ok, for v1.5.6 beta
I changed the parameter "Show Items Count"
in category options in the slider "Parameters : layout common"

From
-- Hide/Show
To
-- Hide/1st sublevel/All sublevels

And updated the category database model to use the new value.

This will not break compatibility as Hide has value 0 , All Sublevels(the old 'Show') has value 1 and finally 1st sublevel will have value 2

Wait for next v1.5.6 beta, but beware that the new v1.5.6 has some changes in URLs and some in templating ( only some custom templates maybe effected and it should be easy to fix them )

Regards

The option i added was about item count in category view,

Now you pose a different topic, a directory view that will show linkable title of items of each subcategory, right?

Such a template will be useful, so i made an new Flexicontent template (i called it 'faq' as it was proposed by loicberder):

For category view it will
- display subcategory names of the category
- under subcategory names there will be a list or table of item titles (and optionally other fields)
- i need to add columns to this view and parameters in category edit form.

For item view: some special idea for this view or have no item view at all?

I will include this template in v1.5.6, so now Flexicontent will come with 3 templates:
default, blog, faq

Template is not finished yet, will do by next Monday. Then it will be available the next public download of v1.5.6beta

Hello

Just one think (already suggest in a previous post) :

Could be nice to be able to select how many subitems will be display...
With a link at the end of the list in case of more subitems in the category (like "see more...")

thanks for your big work for the last weeks

You can get from here (version v1.5.6):
code.google.com/p/flexicontent/downloads/list

The template resembles the faq format.

Some of features include:
1. At the top the parent category of the subcategories is displayed in full width
2. The subcategories can be displayed in 1-4 columns
3. By default the item lists for each subcategory only include item title with an small arrow icon in front of them
4. You can add extra item fields to be displayed by editing the category layout of faq template at the template manager
5. Bellow each subcategory you can select whether to display the category description and whether to trim to a maximum length.
6. Next to category the category image is displayed, for now i did not put option to extra image for description, will do in future.
7. everything is inside a css class so that you can style the output as you please

NOTE: This a category view , not directory view, so you must remember to edit category and select 0 items per page and also choose parameters like whether to display category descriptions and the number of columns etc

NOTE: Probably you can copy template folder and use it in v1.5.4 and v1.5.5 but a couple of options will be missing for category parameters, so the template will use default values.

Regards
