Is it possible to pull the data from multiple content types into a theme template?

Ex: If I had a website with two different content types, News and Events - and wanted to display the most 5 most recent published items from both of the content types on a single page.

Thanks,

hello type and template are independant !
the category and template are linked
you can assign the any type on category and same template on multiple category

Sorry if I haven't explained myself correctly :)

If you go to this site that I'm making with WordPress you'll see what I mean:

dev.nathanielwatts.com/bobbywilsongolf/

So on this hompage - I'm pulling different submitted content types.

You can see the Schedule [which is one content type]:
it is listing the 3 most recent events coming up.

Then you see Affiliates [which is a second content type]:
which is displaying 4 of his most recent affiliates.

You can see here that there is data from multiple content types being pulled from the database and getting displayed with a single template.

Is something like this possible?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Yes it is ;) You will have to use the upcoming module to perform that. Here are some screenshots:

This upcoming module will allow you to realise complex magazine display inside an item view thanks to a new field type which will allow you to load a module instance inside an item:

The result is here, this is an items view which have the behavior of a multi-type & multicategory view (without modifying anything in FLEXIcontent's core). All the blue headers are content types coming from multiple categories:

I'm sure it will meet your custumer's requirements.
But you will have to be a little patient as I didn't finish the default generic templates for the module.

Cheers,
Emmanuel.

That looks great!

Do we know how long it will be before it will go live?
[Our site will be going live within the next 4 weeks]

Also - how would someone go about templating for those multiple content types? Obviously it would be one template - but pulling only specific values for each type of content and then turning around and styling them.

Thanks!
