Fields FACCESS permitions not working

I have set a simple permission per group in a field in flexicotnent and I spected for the field to not SHOW in the FORM to a specific group.

grrrrrrr dam! The fields are not assuming fleciacess or even core permissions.

Yes, the 'edit' privilege in the field's permissions is used for allowing users to edit the field's configuration (aka open field edit form in field manager)

If i remember correctly, i had discussed with Emmanuel about what you suggest, and indeed it would very useful for some sites e.g. sites with subscriptions, etc

For editing the field value in the item edit form we would need a new privilege 'editvalue' do this:

1. For J1.5: create a POST-install SQL query to add this as a new custom rule in 'field' Axosection and for J2.5: add in access.xml in 'fields' section
2. Update item edit form to respect the new permission
3. Update item model to maintain the old value if field is uneditable

Possible we could add a rule 'viewuneditable' to display in item edit form, field values of uneditable fields

Maybe i am missing something here. And it has some implications and problems. I will think of it a little more.

Yes, I have a sit where half of the information of the items is public and half private and indeed it is a subscription one.

The client want to post a video teaser for the public for the ones that are unregistered but show the entire video for the users that have subscriptions.

Initial you were talking about author being able to edit a field.

What you just described already exists

It is the FLEXIaccess view permission on the field.

The view permission defines which frontend user groups will see the field. You just add the field to the item/category Template Layouts and it will only appear to users that can view the field !!!

My problem is that the field is set to only Admins and it steal appears to registered users.
