With native langage (not tested with translation)
Put an item with Image field.
in category view, I select image from field Image and clicable.
My item's title is in french with quote (sorry...) "a L'Hôtel de Ville"
When mouse over the image in fronted tip displays
"Read More about A l\'Hôtel de ville"
