It looks like some 3rd party extension is adding code before SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS

they should be checking for the existence of it,

-- Test this search the category.php for:
SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS
and remove it, the code will work , because it will re-execute the query to get the total count (do not worry this is the way all other extensions do it)

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
