[Works per visitor session] Random order in Content Module does not work.

Hi!
I need to display only featured items in random mode.

At first I enabled random mode:



But module always displays same items... No random.

I have checked Random option on another site - same issue.

Here is settings:

this way
- the user will see same items even if user refreshes
- the random order will work properly with pagination too in category-like views

user will see different order if site is revisited after user SESSION ends (e.g. browser window closed)

Also note: if you enable conservative caching and also enable caching in module then all users may see same order until cache expires

Progressive caching should not cause the above
Another option is not enable caching inside the modulein general it is best to disable caching

In short it works as intended

Open website using 2 different browsers

you should see 2 different orders

Ok, is it possible to enable random displaying for same user?
It's very common option.

Fro example, we want to display only random featured items for same user, because user can back on specific page several times.

It is very easy to add 1 more option , that will not use session, and always do random

I know dozens of components (k2, com_content, seblod, virtuemart e.t.c) that does not have option "Random per user (per session)". They only have classic random mode - "Random per refresh".
We use this mode for years.
Today, for the first time in my life I found "Random per user (per session)" mode. It's very good mode, but we should have standart random mode too.

but i am not sure if we should allow users to select it in category view,
as pagination becomes messed up, and we will have users reporting a bug

maybe only allow this order in module

Of course! Random mode is only for modules.
