When I create a new field of type "Item Form Tab / Fieldset / Custom HTML" and marker type "Field-set: open",
and fill out the Label,
and press "Add" or "Save and Close" or "Save & new",
the Label is saved only after a second attempt.
did you also create the closing tag of it ? "Fieldset: close"
and then did you filter by your type e.g. "car" to set the order of the new,
so that opening HTML (fieldset) tag is before the "closing" HTML (fieldset) tag ?

Maybe I meant "shown"; I meant the Label on the exact same edit-field-screen where i just created the field and thus entered the label, not on the edit-item-screen that uses the field.
In effect I have to type the Label, then save (and stay in) the field, then re-fill the now empty Label.

but it is a litt tricky as it is 3 different cases ...
Fixed it for next version
it is a problem every time you change to a different field type
and the new field type does not have same parameter as the previous
e.g. in your case
Tab/Fieldset field does not have same parameters as text field
