Hide Backend Menu Items

I know you can limit their access to anywhere on the backend but the menu items still show but you get an error message "You are not authorised to view this resource."

Is there a way to just not have the menu items show up if they don't have access, like you can on the frontend?

As FLEXIaccess doesn't wish to modify the core I say no... but
The best way is tho disable the menu and to build you custom interface with CQI.
I'll have a look on the standard menu to see if I can do something (but I hate this menu anyway).

Or you can patch you administrator/modules/mod_menu/helper.php file so only users like superadmin to see all menus

For example:

if ($canConfig) {
$menu->addChild(new JMenuNode(JText::_('Media Manager'), 'index.php?option=com_media', 'class:media'));
}

I wasn't sure if there was a quick way to do it - like you do to hide the frontend menu items based off of permissions.
