because there is a JS error before reaching that part

please post a link, or send a PM with a link to frontendnot only to see JS error, but also to see what else is loaded , and if jQuery is loaded properly,

just note that proper loading of jQuery is not FLEXIcontent responsibility only, e.g. in J3.x we call the J3.x framework, but the framework does not include ALL jQuery.UI functions, so FLEXIcontent tries to load jQuery.UI

in your case i am guessing that the version of jQuery loaded by your site, does not match (as being compatible) jQuery UI autocomplete version

try this
actived easy jquery load all jquery and jquery ui
like 1.8.4 or 1.10.2
check noconflict mode
clean all cache a retest

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
