You don't need to change anything on the code, the new v1.5.6 RC2 has full options for the alpha index:

code.google.com/p/flexicontent/downloads/list

Backup and install, although you should have no problems with v1.5.6 RC2 and you should be able to downgrade back to v1.5.5 without problems if you need too.
