nouvelle version assigner flexicontent a une seule categorie

hello !

merci !

This was not implemented in FLEXIcontent v2.0 for J2.5, it was done to avoid problems and complecations ... , so if you use FLEXIcontent for J2.5 you will have to use it for all categories and items ...

ufff, not a good idea to change this system...

now we have no choice to use or flexicontent or joomla system... not both for different purposes... will complicate a lot the management of items creations :?

well maybe it simpifies things because, you have a single interface to manage your content, plus you can do everything that com_content does and much more with flexicontent

e.g. homepage:
How to use an FC category as Homepage / Frontpage

e.g mutliple featured flags (via categories):
How to make multiple Featured Categories

- Create author views, my items view (via new type of FLEXIcontent menu items)

- of course all third parties com_content displaying modules work their just not aware of FLEXIcontent extra data, (but i strongly recommend using FLEXIcontent module, as it can do simple to very complex selections of items, and includes a very nice template for listing the items, sorry no slideshow template yet)

yes I do agree that flexicontent offers many interestings features.

but doing a migration brings a lot of change with this way of work...

would have been better to keep option to assign une category to flexi instead of forcing for everything.

There has been an another thread where this was discussed extensively.

It would create a lot more problem and complications that it solved, e.g. to change this would mean change 150 queries and problems/compications with ACL ... etc

It is feasible just not possible to do for this version. Various things would break for sure.

hello,

I think if you create a type without extracore field you have some joomla standard fonctionnality and interface.

migration from your old implementation seems not a problem.

You create
    * a 'template' empty
    * a 'type' without field but assignate to your
+ category formerly detached from flexicontent (in 1.5),
+ and previously template
you have restored your old joomla category content in 4 clicks ;)
so I don't think separate joomla com_content and flexicontent it's necessary

thanks szallontai,

i may add this, do not bind the articles fields to any type ,

first create the new Content Type (e.g. 'Article Basic') that szallontai suggested, (with zero assigned custom fields), and then go back to item manager and click to bind the items selecting the new Content Type 'Article Basic'
