List of items from multiple categories

Hello,
is there any "Menu Item Type" to generate a list of articles from multiple categories, which I could manually assign to a "menu item" or any other workarounds?

In my case: I have 5 main categories and each of them has a child-category "news". On the frontpage, I'd like to collect the 2 most recent "news"-articles from every single "news"-category and sort them by the date of creation.

i think create a category home
load universal module on it and use scope to do this

Thank you,

for my better understanding. There is no specific component view which can handle more than one category (similar to K2). Instead of this special view, I have to generate a single flexicontent-item and link it to a menu-item and assign the universal module to this menu-item?
Should this item be empty, so that only modules bring the whole content to the view, or how can I integrate the module into this empty item?

I ask, because the frontpage should be generated dynamically by the most recent (number of) articles from each selected/collected subcategory.
I would not prefer to manually assign a category "frontpage". A component-view with this features would be nice

Thank you,
by assigning the universal module into an item I got nearly what I wanted. Now I have a list with news from all news-categories which are all on other positions and levels. It's also possible to sort the items as I want.
One thing I can't solve is to devide the amount of news-items in sub-pages because of the presentation inside an item-assigned module.
This is the main reason for an I would it call "Universal flexicontent component view".
My case of "news-items" from several non-cascading "news-categories" is only a sample.
I could imagine a component view, where I can collect the articles/items from every category I want, by using the scopes like in the universal-module. This amount of collected item would be devideable in a component view. Maybe by an advancement of the flexicontent-category-view.
