go to extensions/language\override
search this string and add your language

Hello

in every template you have these file (at least the english file)

component/com_flexicontent/templates/TEMPLATE_NAME/language/en-GB/en-GB.ini
component/com_flexicontent/templates/TEMPLATE_NAME/language/de-DE/de-DE.ini
component/com_flexicontent/templates/TEMPLATE_NAME/language/fr-FR/fr-FR.ini

but the english language should have been loaded and you should at least have it showing:
"Columns"

in any case copy:
component/com_flexicontent/templates/TEMPLATE_NAME/language/en-GB/en-GB.ini
to
component/com_flexicontent/templates/TEMPLATE_NAME/language/fr-FR/fr-FR.ini

and make your translations

The reason for a language string not being translated is
- language file has broken syntax (mis-closed quotes ")
- the language string was deleted from the file
- the language file itself is missing / was deleted

Hello

I forgot to say that to hide the button,
go to the "templates" and find the "default" or "default-1" or whatever your template is called
and edit the "category" layout of it

- find parameter "togglable columns" and disable it

if it still appears, go to the category and (its paraent categories) and inside the "Template" TAB,
- open the template parameters slider
make sure that the same parameter is set to "Use global"
