Translate field content?

Hello,

Thanks for this very nice component. I'm evaluating it right now, and am optimistic.

A couple of questions:

- How do I translate the CONTENT of fields? I have JoomFish installed an was successful in translating the field titles, categories, etc. But I cannot figure out how to translate the field values for individual content items.

- Is it possible to edit content items from the front end? I don't see an "edit" link next to the items when I am logged into the front-end as an admin.

Many thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,
I'm not sure to understand exactly your question. You wish to translate the field elements contents (e.g. the elements of a select list) ?
In that case you have to translate the elements contents in the fields. To make it more ergonomic please read that:
www.flexicontent.org/documentati ... pport.html
At the moment there isn’t any frontend submitting/editing feature. It is the next feature to come ;-)
Cheers,
Emmanuel.

I think I have the same problem as Amy
I've made a FIELD with a Select List in French but when I translate it, it doesn't work.
eg, original list in French :
cuisine::cuisine::%% boissons::boissons::
Then I translated it in Spanish :
cocina::cocina::%% bebida::bebida::
This field stays in French (original)
Hope you'll understand my pb !!
Cheers
Lea

Hi Lea,
Concerning the translation of the field elements you made a small mistake.
French list is:
Code:
cuisine::cuisine::%% boissons::boissons
Spanish list must be :
Code:
cuisine::cocina::%% boissons::bebida
You must not translate the value ;-)
No concerning the contents translation, FLEXIcontent allows to manage multilingual content is its OWN user interface.
Thus there's is NO reference language. To translate an item, simply copy it in another language.
The category view will then filter the items displayed according to the site's active language.
That means that you can't switch language on an item view (because the item has no reference with another one).
Hope it will help,
Emmanuel.

PS: Please read that article for more information on the multilingual feature www.flexicontent.org/developers-blog/fle...own-has-started.html
