Hello

Also suffixes does not support html

The prefix / suffix are delibarately removing HTML

since if you add HTML you will break the filter 's HTML !!

so they have in the field.xml file
Code:
<field name="pretext_filter" type="text" default="" filter="string" ... <field name="pretext_filter" type="text" default="" filter="string" ...

The Open / Close text are supposed to support HTML

but by mistake i did not add any filter="..." inside the field.xml file,
but default behaviour without filter is to remove HTML and other things
Code:
<field name="opentag_filter" type="text" default="" filter="JComponentHelper::filterText" ... <field name="opentag_filter" type="text" default="" filter="JComponentHelper::filterText" ...

I will add
filter="JComponentHelper::filterText"

the above filters HTML according to current's user Text filters (= Joomla allowed HTML tags per usergroup in global configuration)

So yes you can use HTML in the Open / Close texts
