Problem with File Field Type

Flexi content is working great. Recently we needed to add a downloadable PDF to each of our listings.

I created a new field type - File, with the idea that an admistrator can upload the file to the listing then the visitor would be able to download it.

All seemed to go well except when the file is uploaded. The PDF is uploaded (I can see it in the uploads or medias directory) but the file does not seem to be associating with the flexicontent listing.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the reply.

By Checking the pdf extension do you mean:

Components > Flexicontent > Global Configuration

In the global configuration popout, there is the Files Configuration Section.

In the Legal Extensions (File Types) field I have:

bmp,csv,doc,gif,ico,jpg,jpeg,odg,odp,ods,odt,pdf,png,ppt,swf,txt,xcf,xls,zip, BMP,CSV,DOC,GIF,ICO,JPG,JPEG,ODG,ODP,ODS,ODT,PDF,PNG,PPT,SWF,TXT,XCF,XLS,ZIP

Is this what you were referring to?

While the modal window is open, click on the file name to select it for the item.

You will see no obvious visual cue, but if you close the modal window, the file name should be there. Now apply or save.

One caveat, though... I have this on three live sites. On two it's working fine. On the third, it is working erratically.

No one has been able to help me with it, and a PM to the developer has garnered silence.

FLEXI is the best, IMO, but perhaps this particular feature needs more work before extensive deployment.

Thanks so much for the reply and tips.

@TheSoMeEx your tip was what I needed. Everything was working fine except the user (me).

I thought using the upload interface would add the document. The upload interface only uploads the document, then in the lower section you need to click on which documents you want to add to the page.

Once I figured that out then I was working just fine. Added some styling to a custom template for a nice result.

You can see it in action here:

look for the Building Flyer PDF

Looking forward to the updates, most of the time the files tab will not display correctly, it is a browser issue. I switch to a different browser and all is good. Which is fine for me but may cause some confusion for the client. :-)

Thanks again!

Steven
