Field- Default Values not showing

Hi! First off I love the work you have done so far, keep it up.

Now to my problem When I create a new field and input a default value for that field I am never seeing this default value popping up anywhere. I am wondering if I am missing a switch or a doo-hickey some place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
