I guess this change won't have any impact on other buttons.
In fact, I found a simpler solution that only changes the readmore code and that hopefully Joomla team will consider valid.
Here is the PR I just proposed:

Joomla team was quick and it seems this will be fix in Joomla! 3.4.2:
