Filters - FlexiContent/Joomla - Can't order items

Hi ggppdk,

Yes, the "Save Order" button appears if I move an entry using the toggle handle on the left of an item.

The order doesn't save however, the effect isn't carried through to actually re-order those items.

Additionally, filtering by a particular category gives a weird ordering motif that isn't understandable as to the order visualized, this as opposed to the standard Joomla methodology of representing order (in the current context and method).

Kind regards,
Noel Dixon

Works as you described

However, the ordering visual is confusing.

This is because you are mixing published and unpublished items and items with different languages. I don't know why, but ordering published and unpublished does not seem possible. This is sometimes a problem when items are created but shall not be published immediately.

This is delibarate, about mixing, it is not an implementation limitation,

it was a choice,
we can change this behaviour,
if it is really wrong

i am not sure if we should

As always, there is no wrong or right. I normally write articles for our homepage, publish them temporary to see how they look and send an pdf to reviewer. An article is sometimes in many categories, so it would be nice just to publish an article once it is released.
But again, this is my specific application.

Hello

the idea is to avoid listing unpublished items among published, and thus making reordering more difficult

a workaroud to set order before publishing the item,
- is to set published up time to a future date and publish the item

but this can be a little risky,
- since a mistake in publish up time, will make the item show immediately

I tried your suggestion. For a single category, the items that are timed have been fully unpublished. Filters are set to include only published items. The ordering behaviour appears to work as expected, except that it doesn't translate to frontend reality.

IMHO Joomla article ordering shouldn't need to be dependent on "published" only articles being selected. The system that was in place before with FlexiContent worked without issue, when selecting Joomla only items settings. Something has been lost in translation to the new paradigm.

Please see attached.
