[Implemented] Organize fields in the item form

Hi,

I have several websites where there are about 30 fields to fill to create an item and that makes the item form quite muzzy for the administrator.
That would be great to organize the fields in different panels like the "Details", "Metadata", "Layout parameters" ones. Or at least, to have the possibility to insert a field which would be used only as a separator.

Well, clearly it's not an urgent request...

Thanks

One evening, i almost added a new parameter to the main field configuration to make exactly this, not with panels, but with tabs.

Inside this new field you would write the Group name of the Field.

And then each group would appear in separate tab when in edit mode AND/OR in view mode.

We also plan not just a Group name, but rather adding Group Field Manager , to extract field configuration together with template configuration (+ files) so that they installable via Joomla installer on your next Site !!!!!!!

What you ask is much less than what we planned to do.

Thank you for your suggestion. :D

Regards

We must freeze v1.5.6 these days ...

The tabbed field groups, and fieldsets for field groups will be in v1.5.7
along with
1. Full item translation support: grouping of item translations, with auto frontend switching to proper item translation
2. New fields:
(a) new gallery field that combines image and minigallery features, (this maybe installable in v1.5.6 too)
(b) number field with range search (this maybe installable in v1.5.6 too)
(c) merging of related item field with select flexicontent items and reverse select item field
(d) ... ???
3. Type Migrator (field & template configuration export & installation to new sites)
4. New folder management (maybe as a field too) : for item files, for author files, and backend file management improved
5. Trashed items manager
6. Massive item parameters coping mechanism
7. System plugin for tags replacing with FLEXIcontent item or category data anywhere on the joomla page.
8. Field improvements e.g for image field metadata and filtering of long lists
9. More powerful email notifications of events (v1.5.6 final will have basic support for email to administrator for new item submits and revised item )

Regards
