Content Kits - Import/Export

The concept of Content Kits was in the FLEXIcontent roadmap in the past.

I found this info on the beta 4 page which says:
"This new system introduces a more ambitious feature in the upcoming RC release.
The content kit import/export feature!!!
This means the users will be able to import a complete content kit including the type,
its fields and the templates (item and category).
This kit could be considered as a component."

I think the Content Kit idea was lost when the project went into the dormant stage for awhile.
Now that the FLEXIcontent project is again alive and well perhaps this is a good time to resurrect this feature.

A Content Kit could include:
- Configuration
- - Alpha-Index
- - Comments
- Categories
- Fields
- Tags
- Templates
- - Categories
- - Items
- - Emails
- Types

The Zoo CCK calls their installable content kits Apps.
The Apps packages save the settings in XML files.
And include all of the items listed above.

Please post any other ideas about what should be in a Content Kit.

Ken, thanks for bringing this up, i think this should be on the first things to do for next version ,

but not for current one we are already too much delayed, i am satisfied with current version features and clean-ups , i am trying to finalize
new filters feature (multiple appearances for filters, text ranges/date ranges, drop down select ranges, and toggle buttons) to release final version for testing,

Concept of Content Kits will also have multiple template configuration per template to avoid unnecessary duplication of template files.

I totally agree that i would be a very important feature. It will bring a lot of potential. People could share entire set-up. We could have some "app" on github for people to continuously improve it.

If the process is well done that could really help to fire up some serious potential. And FC a killer CCK.
Want a portfolio? done!
Want a business directory? done!
Want a supercharged image gallery? done!
....

But i also agree that it should come on a next release. I'd rather see a nice and polished FC final/stable release before adding more features.
I hate developers that just keep on adding things but never really fix or finalise previous bug/features. Then you are constantly chasing update and support.

Imagine if we could with 1file share a complete configurtion of a site.

Like you guys say, I can share "Library App", "RealEstate App", "Movies App". OMG!!
