Hello

you want to have a categories menu
or a categories filter?

if you want to automatically create a categories module, there is such a module included in v3 BETA7c:
github.com/FLEXIcontent/flexicontent-cck/releases

Hello

there is no multi-level category filter,

question this menu will target FLEXIcontent category view ?
-- instead you can create a categories menu item with links and all enable the "categories filter" to show sub-categories in them

Hello ggppdk

the categories-modul with a drop-down list and searchfield instead a normal list would be very useful.

The category-filter is not useful when some categories have specialfilters and the normal list is not useful with many categories.
