Hello Emmanuel
I am new to Joomla and Flexicontent. I have the error message'You didn't create any FLEXIcontent menu item, please create at least one for the component to function properly!!!'
I made a menu item and this error message disappeared but I have problems.
1. When I make the menu item for Flexicontent the error message disappears but 'Flexicontent' shows in the main menu along with the other menu items on the site.

I have solved the above by making a new menu item in the Menu Manager and not a Main Menu item in Joomla Control.

2. When I have the 'Flexicontent' menu item I am unable to publish an article through flexicontent even though the status in Flexicontent changes to publish so I have to use the Joomla Article Manager to publish articles.
I realise I am making a basic mistake but am unable to find the solution.
Thanks for your help

Hi,
There are two rules:

1°- Do not use FLEXIcontent and com_content together
2°- If you choose to use FLEXIcontent, you don't have frontend publishing system anymore (till january with the RC release)
www.flexicontent.org/documentation/faq/i...ng-flexicontent.html

If frontend publishing system is mandatory for you product (and it's urgent), you should consider using another solution.

Cheers,
Emmanuel.

Hi and thanks for promp reply.

"Do not use standard com_content and FLEXIcontent together".

Do you have a link on how to disable all com_content? Again I realise this is very basic but my head hurts!
I'm Irish, blond and male so everything has to be simple.

thanks again

You should have all your articles being in the Flexicontent section, this is the eaiser way to not use com_content any longer.

If you already have a site running with a lot of content, there is a tool helping you to migrate your content to the Flexicontent section

I hope this helps :)

Hi again

Are you able to explain this a little more for me; "Duplicate and rename the default templates"

thanks again

Good morning

First, before answering, it would have been easier to have a new post, as this is a new question.

Manu, I tried to split the message to make it a new post, but I failed - too early and before coffee, brain not working :) -

So Duplication of templates :) This is now in Beta5 an easy one. In the admin panel of Flexicontent, you have one tab named templates. There you will check the Default one, use the Copy button, and there you have a Copy default template, that you'll rename and play with to fit your needs

Morning ....I am a dumb ass too BUT :

a)what does it achieve . I mean if I copy the default template does that mean that my front end template will get replaced ? If so that is Good news.

b)I have added Peters 'add to menu " and yet trying to figure this one out.I know I just HAVE to use this product but I am totally LOST .

Not your guys fault but mine.
cheers
vivi

PS : Have loaded the new orchid Admin Template with the Quick Icons Module, lets see if that makes life easier to understand.

Hi and welcome on board

Duplication of the default template is just the first step, you will have then to rename it and use the new template for your needs. nothing will be changed automatically, of course, you have to decide what you want to change, and how you want to change it

Right now, I am not sure to understand what is exactly your problem. Are you working on a new site? Do you want to migrate an old one? Or do you just want to play with Flexicontent to figure it out?
