J2.5 has DIFFERENT behavior than J1.5, when an invalid menu item alias is in the URL it will not raise an 404 error but instead it will pass the URL to the component assigned to the frontpage for parsing.

I test on a local site of mine, and it occurs with other components too:
if i
- i set HOME page to be e.g. com_login
- enable joomla SEF urls
- test with an invalid URL, (the first part of the URL after domain is the menu item alias)
e.g. mmmydomain.com/aaaaaa/

then i arrive in com_login without an 404 error

it depends on the URL segments and variable what will happen

e.g. you could add some variable that would make com_login generate an error

I will see if FLEXIcontent can detect the invalid menu item alias in the URL and generate an 404 error without breaking any compatibility

I have made a small change to FLEXIcontent SEF URL parsing code that will make, 404 category not found error to appear , which is not 100% correct because actually the URL is not found ...

but as i said J2.5 , it does not raise an 404 error for the non-found menu item alias, instead it passes it passes the URL to component being used in frontpage

maybe trying to detect an invalid URL inside the FLEXIcontent URL parsing code is dangerous ... so i will not do it just now, note, that none-component does it ...
