I seem have understood in what a problem with an alpha an index in Russian. The problem begins in function

$alpha 	= $mainframe->getUserStateFromRequest( $option.'.category.letter', 'letter', '', 'cmd' );

Function does not return value if the letter Russian.

I gotta look into this some more I'm not very familiar with translations using unicode I will have to look this up in my library
anybody else want to take a crack at it
when i bump into one of the developers I will inquire for you and post back
