Hi,

I want to set a template for author's item list view.
There is an option for selecting a template in Edit Author page. But I don't see any template to select.

There is a Tip how to place template for an author, but I don't understand.

If I want to use a custom blog template for this author, where should I place?

Hello

1.that is a different thing

-- your picture show files like:
/view/category/tmpl/default.php

WHAT it is:
it is the Joomla "Alternative" template (normally "default.php" is loaded, you can duplicate default.php to create default1.php , default2.php, etc)

-- the above mentioned default.php runs before the FLEXIcontent template is loaded, but you have no reason to use it because FC template system is much more complex and complete

2. to select the FLEXIcontent template, scroll down the screen, it is a the bottom of the parameters

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?
-- Add your voice to the FLEXIcontent JED listing with a 5-star...

Georgios,

This is very confusing.

1. Why is this "Override Layout file" label here?
There does not appear to be any way to select this new alternative layout file here.
I tested it.
I created an alternative layout file.
There is no way to select it here.
Nothing appears to select.

2. The "Override Layout file" label is incorrect and confusing.
What you are describing is an Alternative Layout.
This is a new layout file in addition to the original layout file.
An alternative layout file is located in the same component folder as the original layout file.
This describes an alternative layout file which may be selected.

A Layout Override file replaces or overrides the original layout file.
A layout override file is located in the Joomla template folder.
The layout override file does not need to be selected.
It overrides the original layout file automatically.

So having this "Override Layout file" label here is very confusing.
There is no such thing as a selectable "Override Layout file."
If it is really for an Alternative Layout file, where is the file selector?
It make no sense to have this label here.

It is understandable why brandonking is confused.
I am confused.
Why is this label here?

Hello

this is a joomla form field element 'componentlayout', currently flexicontent has these alternative layouts for category view, inside the 'tmpl':

default.php
author.php
myitems.php
mcats.php

but you are right:
- for some reason it does not work (i think the field inside the category.xml is missing some parameter, i will check)
- it is confusing
- maybe it is not appropriate to exist

In this context even if the selector works I think this will still be confusing.
There will be too many layouts that do not relate to author.
Having all these layouts together is always going to be confusing when discussing alternative layouts.

If there were a separate author view, then having a easy way to select an alternative layout makes sense, and is not going to be confusing.

In any case the current label makes no sense and needs to be changed to reflect that this is to select an alternative layout – not an override.
