hi all,

just a little question.
i'm looking for a way to incorporate a list of people killed in action on the site.

shoud be a link in the menu to a page with the cemeteries .
after selection of cemetery a list of people (with search option) and when a persons name is selected a fiche with the data ( photo , day of birth , etc ) should appear.

would that be possible with flexicontent?
did get a tip to use zoo but they take over the entire site manager, when not payed every period they block the joomla , etc.

really don't like that so looking for a way to just create this for a part of the site and keep normal management with the standard editor.

kind regards

yoeri

flexi maped all of your site too

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Hi,
FlexiContent takes over the item and category management of your site, but you can still use standard Joomla views. A possibility is to assign only one user group to manage items and categories with FC.
On the other hand, if you only want to use FC for a very small part of your page it might be better to think about a specialised component.

for the moment only that part of the site has need for special fields.
later on there will be other parts of the site.

i used an offline new j3 installation to test FC.
seems i have a lot of learning to do.

is it possible to make a new field that gets the data from a DB tabel?
will be a lot easier then.

with flexicontent you can select redirection by type
article to joomla view and specific type to flexicontent view

Hello

in v3 BETA7g you can
- use Joomla article views (you could in previous versions too)
- new use Joomla article view (you control this per content)
(there is a new column in types manager)

e.g. you can allow content type "Article"
- in this case the article links from Joomla category view , or menu items point to Joomla article view
will not
be redirected to FLEXIcontent item view

and if you have some custom fields for them, then these will be added before article description via the FLEXIcontent system plugin

About your question in regards to cemetries and filtering,
- FLEXIcontent has powerful field filters,

also in category menu items you can add locked filters to pre-filter some category views

I can't help you with your question but I am doing something similar.

I have a web site that is broken down into 3 main sections: 1) people 2) cemeteries 3) honours

If you click on a link for the cemetery, it will show specific fields (google map, earliest interment, denomination etc.) plus a reverse look-up Flexi field that shows all the people interred.

Example: deadcanadians.ca/index.php/cemeteries2/o...anadian-war-cemetery
Scroll down to the "Interments" section and click "Cosens, Aubrey". He is currently the only one I have recorded, but it is a good example. When you click on Cosens it takes you to his bio page, which includes a sidebar showing the cemetery at which he is interred and his "Honours" such as a Victoria Cross.

Click "Victoria Cross" in the side bar and it takes you to a Flexi field look-up list showing everyone that has been identified in their bio as having received the VC.

If you click on the cemetery it will show you everybody who is interred (in many cases there is only one person noted because I am focusing on "famous" or "notable" people).

This is still very much a work in progress. If you want to browse around, some of the most populated links are as follows:
deadcanadians.ca/index.php/cemeteries2/o...unt-pleasant-toronto
deadcanadians.ca/index.php/cemeteries2/o...tery-and-crematorium
deadcanadians.ca/index.php/site-content/.../382-order-of-canada
deadcanadians.ca/index.php/site-content/...rds/386-walk-of-fame

I'd love to see what you are working on!
