Do not delete the tables. You can empty the tables:
jos_flexicontent_versions
and
jos_flexicontent_items_versions

by executing (e.g. in phpmyadmin):

TRUNCATE TABLE `jos_flexicontent_versions`
TRUNCATE TABLE `jos_flexicontent_items_versions`

PLEASE TRUNCATE --BOTH-- tables not just one of them otherwise you will have problems with enabling versioning later.

this topic is still up-to-date with last fc version 2.1.3.
5 versions minimum is too much !!

thanks

Hello

yes, reducing the number of versions ("versions kept" component parameter), will not trim the tables

this happens only when you save each individual item

- your request is that we provide a way to trim the versions tables from inside FLEXIcontent UI ?

I suggest to insert a functionality to clear the version history of old articles, so e.g. versions are kept till an article is 3 months old. After this time older versions of an article are deleted. The time how long versions are kept should be free configurable by the admin. Also it might be smart to add some "keep-versions-field" to articles. If this is activated in an article, versions are kept.

Hello

also maybe the item form should only save 1 new version per login session,

and next versions in same login-session will be saved as the same new version

but provide option to create new version only if desired
