[Import format was not understood according to configuration] fc 3.3.2 - CSV export file is missing the ID column

I'm currently trying to import new and existing articles between two versions of the same site, meaning that the source and destination databases are visually identical.

Since i want to update existing items on the destination database, I have set the import tool to Create / Update records, which requires the ID column to be present in the CSV export.

Nonetheless, the ID column is absent from said file and, as a result, the import testing tool shows the error message below.

CSV file lacks column 'id' (Item ID)

In the export parameters, I couldn't find any option to include the ID column.

Environment:

FC 3.3.2
Joomla 3.9.15

hello you need to have an id column if you want to import with update
edit your CSV file you need a first value like this
id;title;text ....
12;your title;your texte .....

If I understand you correctly, the id column must be manually addd to the CSV file, meaning that one must populate it by hand as well.
If that's the case, then it is counterintuitive to say the least,.
In a scenario where there's a lot of update operations, not having the id column automatically added and populated by the export tool, renders it practically useless.

I thought that the export tool was able to figure the id value for each item.

Adding the id column to the CSV doesn't make any difference. The importer keeps throwing the same error message.

Hello

the message indicates your have mis-configured your import process
the import process did not understand the format of the file according to the configuration you gave
so as far i understand from your description , this is not a bug of the import process

e.g. your first row needs to field-names and NOT field labels !
aka "created_by" and not "Created By"
aka "state" and not "Published"

To export the id
1. create a new field of type CORE-property field type
(and assign it to the desirable item types or to ALL item types)
2. Configure in it to display "ID"
3. Enable CSV export in it
