Hello

tested this and it works, both core fields heritage and custom field heritage

1. please go to
Component configuration / Content Display TAB

and enable parameter:
"DEBUG parameter heritage"
and you get a frontend message like (category view):

- CLONED COMPONENT PARAMETERS
- MERGED CATEGORY PARAMETERS of (inherit-from) category: Sample Data-Articles
- MERGED CATEGORY PARAMETERS of (inherit-from) category: Joomla!
- MERGED CATEGORY PARAMETERS of current category

2. NOTE there is a parameter (in component and in each category) inside the

Parameter handling TAB:

"Inherit parameters from"

- component
- specific category
- all parent categories (e.g. the above example)

3. NOTE: CORE property for ordering will not be use if both:
a. USE CUSTOM FIELD ORDER is enabled (or inherited to yes)
b. a custom field selection is selected (or inherited)

Regards

Regarding the field publish_up (remember that its some kind of core/non core field), this still applies

Another issue is that the code is adding left joins to fields_items_relations.value
, but I´m guessing that fields with type date published don´t have a entry on this table so the left join later fails to order nothing, could be?

I´m gonna do more tests on the inheritance issue

Regarding category parameters inheritance
- Light tests look like its working at least on r1932

Regarding order by publish custom field
- Don´t know for sure, I´m using "Order by published date" as workaround, instead of using the custom field (last check I did, this happened: {quote}Another issue is that the code is adding left joins to fields_items_relations.value

Hello

order by custom field was indeed broken but it is ok in r1932+

check the parameter
"Enable * overrides CORE order"

to yes in component permissions, and also select a field that is single property, e.g. text e.g. date, but not e.g. image
