Hello
I use joomla 1.5 with flexicontent 1.5.4 and flexiaccess.
A user administrator uses a form to submit articles in the frontend.
This user sends articles to twenty categories.
I enable, in flexiaccess, the "multi-select category" for this user.
In the dropdown "flexi menu choose cats", in the menú item, I have selected "all cats", and all the twenty categories are selected in the "flexi menu select cats".
In the article submission form, in the "frontend", there are twenty fields type "select".
The information in each field "select" should be available to only one category.
When the user submits one article (only one), the data of the first field "select" only should be available to the first category; the data of the second field "select" only to the second category, and so on.
The formulary has other fields, but all of then are to all categories.
My problems is only with the fields "select".
I need your help.

Hello,
fields are designed to be assign to item types and not to item categories.

The only way to achieve this behavior is to create a new Field Type, that would --through javascript-- detect the chosen category and change its contents to have appropriate content for the category.

Such a field type is not currently implemented, although a developer could duplicate the existing select field and extended it to support such behavior. I have used such fields in custom web applications.

Regards

You tell me that, with a "new field type" and "javascript" can do what I need.
I know some "javascritp" if you can give me some guidance on how to do it, I'll try.
Thanks

Hello,

I am sorry,
I only meant to say that this is not implemented.

This could be a useful addition.

Regards

I think you've misunderstood what I need.
In the "frontend" a form contains, among many other fields, 20 fields "select".
An administrator user has permision to send articles to 20 categories.
When this user sends one item, the selected data in a field "select" will be available to one of the 20 categories.
If I am interested in the development of this choice, do I can talk to you about this development?

My initial understanding was that the user will choose only one out of 20 categories, and that you wanted the select field to be dynamically updated to contain appropriate entries for the selected category.

So the user can select more than one category right?

And you want 2 select boxes to appear dynamically when the user chooses e.g. 2 categories?

Or you want the select boxes to be always visible but e.g. disabled and/or empty when the corresponding category is not selected?
