I will check a little, how filters worked in 1.5.4 ...

... because i joined project after 1.5.4 and only worked on 1.5.5 and 1.5.6 which have different way for using filters ...

I think i now how they worked in 1.5.4 but i have to confirm

No, there is not a package available for download only people that are willing to extract the code from SVN, and know how to do it.

This is despite 1.5.6 having a lot of bug fixes and enhancements, many of which were discussed in the forum. We don't want yet non-developers to install it.

I cannot replicate this.

For me it is displayed and working properly.

In file category-items (of the template you have assigned to the category):
Please check if this code is inside your template:

foreach ($this->filters as $filt) : echo '<span class="filter">'; echo $filt->html; echo '</span>'; endforeach;

Also temporarily put this code inside the above file:

foreach($this->filters as $index => $val) {echo $index." ";}
It should list all filter names

Confirming that there is no need to add code "sql" to the filter settings.
