Hi

"Getting 406 (Not Acceptable) when I try to save a new post"

I had this sit running find on dev site then I moved it with Akeeba and now the front runs fine but I can not add new articles.

It loads the article page but not tiny_mce when I have jce turned on. it says quite a few files mostly images are 406 in the chrome tools.
XHR finished loading: GET " www.specialistlanguagecourses.com/admini...items.gethits&id=690 ". mootools-core.js:164
XHR finished loading: GET " www.specialistlanguagecourses.com/admini...tems.getvotes&id=690 ". mootools-core.js:164
GET www.specialistlanguagecourses.co ... Number.ttf 404 (Not Found) /media/nnframework/fonts/NoNumber.ttf:1
GET www.specialistlanguagecourses.co ... Number.svg 404 (Not Found) /media/nnframework/fonts/NoNumber.svg#nonumber:1
GET www.specialistlanguagecourses.co ... umber.woff 404 (Not Found) index.php?option=com_flexicontent&task=items.edit&cid[]=690:1290

When I hit save it adds some more cookies and blocks the whole site as 406 for that user.

Delete those cookies and all works but the page does not save. like fcform_tabset_0fctabber

Thoughts currently:
site is mixing line endings windows and unix in the move between unix systems.
Flexicontent has an issue with something...? not seen what

What I have tried.
#Deleting the extra 406 elements
#Re uploading them and flexi
#Updating flexicontent to the beta
#Turning off jce
#New type with no extra fields

If I turn off flexi and kill the front of the site the articles work so it is in flexi.

Any ideas?

version of flexicontent and joomla ?
regards

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Hello

this is an old question

-- if you search forum you will find previous answer

-- if you search our FAQ you will find this:
I get an error HTTP 406

There is no specific answer to it, and we have no or little control over it, (see our FAQ article above)

what is happening is this:

you have mod_security in
your apache web server and some rule is being triggered,

you need to examine server log and find which rule is triggered or disable mod_security

e.g. an <iframe> is submitted and a mod_security rule is triggered, etc, etc

Thank you both for answering, I had been through the other forum post. That's why I followed your advice on the other tests to do and added the .htaccess commands.
I had also uploaded a script I wrote to test if mod_security was on. It reported no.

I thought while I waiting for the forum I would contact the host and they said yes your new server has mod security on but the old one not.

So I am sorry to have bothered you I will work with them to turn it down.

Are there any known rules that block flexicontent? Or must it all be turned off?

thanks

tristan

Hello

-- you should ask your webhost to tell you which EXACT mod_security rule is triggered

-- also you may try do this:
try submiting with your fields and description empty
does it submit without 406 error?

-- you may also try:
1. create a new type "Simple article" and do not assign to it any extra fields

2. create/sumbit a new item of the above by just adding title e.g. "test 01" and selecting category

does it submit correctly ?
if yes, add more custom fields and also try your original item description

thus you may find the part of the form that is causing the mod_security rule to be triggered

Regards

Thank you,

I will wait for them to tell me the settings, I did read your advice to a plain item and did try that already without success.

So will start again when I know the mod security settings.

p.s. do you know when the next release of flexicontent will be as last release was December 2013 but you all seem to have been working lots on the source, happy to offer help if needed
