Well for me....

I am just importing a reference to the image. I would prefer to just have an option to reference an external image (Say S3) or a relative reference.

Item 1 | images/thumbs/thum1.jpg | ....
Item 2 | images/thumbs/thum2.jpg | ....
Item 3 | images/thumbs/thum3.jpg | ....

etc

How about this for my temporary solution.

Here is what it looks like when I manually add an image:

a:7:{s:12:"originalname";s:15:"standing-me.jpg";s:12:"existingname";s:0:"";s:3:"alt";s:0:"";s:5:"title";s:0:"";s:4:"desc";s:0:"";s:6:"delete";b:0;s:6:"remove";b:0;}

If I knew what it all meant or more importantly what changes besides the name I could import into a temp text field, then use mysql to change it to an image field.

But I don't know what a:7 means or s:12 or s:15 etc.

Could I do that? What would need to change besides the jpg name?

Thanks

You don't need to do that, what you wrote is a PHP serialized array of an image field value

but you don't need to put this in your CSV file

you can simple

1. Configure a folder in image-gallery field
2. Set image-gallery field in "DB-Reusable" mode
3. use (in v2.0.1a) inside the CSV file

...,"existingfilename001.jpg",...

And the image field value will be saved properly
Just using DB-Reusable mode is not the best choice unless your images are used among items, plus currently in item form it show a drop-down select field instead of popup image manager like "Folder Mode"
