Pathways and breadcrumbs

Any possibility of having this as a global option? something like "Global value/Use each menu entry"?

Any news on this? Any chance to have a "turn off all the categories from breadcrumb" or "all menu items start adding categories to bread crumb at level..."

we have responded to this need with
- automatic pathways
(category TREE path) in category view
(category TREE path + item) in item view
- with depth limit in menu item parameters

about your suggestion of new feature,
you say to enhance automatic pathways?
(thus remove all menu items from pathway)
right?

and start displaying categories at specific level e.g. skip 1st level and display (category TREE path) at level 2

Actually, is more the contrary. Flexicontent adds categories to the path, but usually this behaviour is not very good for my cases. I normally have a menu tree structure that I want to keep on the breadcrumb because that´s the way I have it configured. The automatic pathways remove the menu items and keep the categories on the path, but I want the other way around, keep the menu items and remove the categories

If I add the types to the routing plugin, I get this behaviour for single items, and is something manageable (5 types, 10 types.. how big has to be the website to need more than that?) but the categories are a whole different story. I have like 100 categories and I would prefer not having to add them to the plugin

Ok, I think I found the less intrusive way

A third value for automatic_pathways called "Only menu items on the pathway"

Then on the view.html.php of item and category

if (automatic_pathways = 'only_menu_items') {
item_depth = 999; // Dont add any categories, ever
}



A more correct way would be "add my category parents to the breadcrumb until a category with menu items associated is found", but I don´t know the implications
