Hi there,

AceSearch 1.7 has just come out, but the plugin for FlexiContent doesn't seem to work with FlexiContent 2.0. Does anyone know who made the original AceSearch plugin for FlexiContent?

The plugin seems to have been authored by the authors of ACE search (JoomAce LLC).

It does not work because of code for sections (sections are no longer used in J1.7), i have removed it, install this one for J1.7 version of AceSearch:
(to everybody else this is installed via the ACE Search Panel not via the joomla extension manager)

PS: i see that it searches in:
- item title,
- item intro text,
- item full text
- item tags
but doesnot search inside text fields or other type of fields.

Wow, thank you very much, ggppdk! As long as it searches in title, description and tags I'm covered for now.

Hi ggppdk,

I was wondering — if I want this to work with AceSearch's filters (so I can let my users search within specific categories), what would I need to change?

I guess it has something to do with this:
Code:
parent::getFilterWhere($where, array('category' => 'c.id, c.parent_id'))

Does FlexiContent uses something else that 'category'?

The code you have in your POST is acesearch syntax, i cann't say without looking again in the ACE search code, but yes i guess you are in right direction.

Anyway i have updated the standard search plugin to use the code of v2.0, and it now allows searching in custom text fields and in tags (will commit new version soon).

So the next day i will clean up everything that remains about searching (standard search plugin and advanced search plugin).

NOTE: that we are thinking of keeping both plugins since:
-- the standard search plugin works without the precalculated index,
-- while the advanced search plugin relies on a precalculated index

Regards

Sounds great — the reason I'm using AceSearch is because I need the search suggestions, and I think that their algorithm is pretty good.

Would I need to swap 'category' with something like 'flexi_category', or are FlexiContent's categories based on Joomla's own categories?

it think acesearch isn't very important ..
because finder is the futur search of joomla 2.5
i think a plugin for finder is good for futur

You might be right about that — it would be awesome to rely on Joomla's standard search instead of a 3rd party plugin. Would it require a lot of change to FlexiContent's search plugin to work with Joomla Finder from version 2.5?

Have not looked at it yet, but don't see reason why we cannot adapt to it
